The LFK's lightweight is made possible, in part, by its anodized 6061-T6 aircraft-aluminum handles. Anodized aluminum is not only incredibly durable, but the process also produces a porous coating that can absorb dyes. This makes it possible to produce colored surfaces that are extremely scratch-resistant-in the LFK's case, a discreet matte black color.
The LFK boasts a compact 2 1/8-inch blade of AUS6A high-carbon stainless steel, honed to Kershaw's famous "shaving sharp" edge. The knife also features Kershaw's super-smooth, one-handed, manual opening. The user simply places his thumb on the thumb stud and pushes the blade out of the handle, following its natural arc. 2.13 in.
